Picnic Ideas For Family Picnic Fun
People truly underestimate the power in having a picnic. Being able to make good food, pack up the car, and go somewhere beautiful or exotic to eat this food is certainly the type of thing that people take for granted. Of course, picnicking in places that you have never been before is something that is exciting for so many people, and having a good picnic is as much about the excursion as it is about the food.
Depending on your family and your experience, there are certain places that you may not want to go when it comes time for a picnic. For example, places where you may be a bit secluded and you are not sure of the surroundings may not be the best Picnic ideas. Pick a nice vacation spot and research it thoroughly so that you know what you are getting into. That way, you have a better idea of what to expect so you can feel much safer in the end.
If you want to find information about where to plan your picnic, you can look for this information in a variety of places. For example, the National Park Guide and the State Parks of the United States handbooks and websites are great.
In addition, the National and State Parks are not the only great picnic ideas and places that you can go. Theme parks, amusement parks, and even zoos and waterparks make great spots for vacations as well.
Historic sites are also a great place to take your kids for a picnic. They can get outside and have some great food but learn a little bit about their history as well—and the learning is always a plus!
I remember my sons having grass fights with the cut grass at one historic location that we went to when they were little. How much history they learned I am not sure but I know that they remember the site even today.
If you want information on what you can do in your local area, hop online. Every real city has at least some semblance of a website and you can find some good picnic locations that way. You can also use city maps and google map driving direction to find your way around as well, so you can rest assured that you won't get lost trying to explore.
If you want to walk or hike, don't forget a good walking map! If you get lost, that will definitely ruin your picnic experience. If you are on a trail, a walking map may not be as necessary but you should always find out before you get too far along. A ranger's office or tourist stop should have all of the maps that you need.
What to Do on a Picnic?
Of course, when you are on a picnic you want to make sure to bring your picnic basket with plenty of food! Food isn't everything though, especially if you have kids. Having fun is important, and laughing and playing are an important part of any picnic experience.
You can play games or sports as well, or consider taking a nature walk for people who aren't quite with the raucous of horsing around. Telling stories or playing story games work well also, as do reading aloud from mythology books or even playing the game where your group makes up a story by adding on to it as the story moves from person to person.
Of course, preparation is key with any good picnic. Pack up the car well and if you are going far, be sure to check tire pressure and fluid levels just to be on the safe side. You don't have to be unprepared—the Internet gives you everything that you need! Plan your picnic right and your family will be begging you for more before too long.
